New important information: You are required to submit your water meter reading or face a fine.
Under Section 51.2 of Regulation 262-4*, in effect since February 24, 2025, any residence that has not submitted its water meter reading will be subject to a fine of $250.
* 51.2 Quiconque contrevient au présent règlement commet une infraction et est passible, en plus des frais, des amendes suivantes:
1° pour une première infraction, d’une amende de deux cent cinquante dollars (250$) à cinq cents dollars (500$) lorsqu’il s’agit d’une personne physique et de cinq cents dollars (500$) à mille dollars (1 000$) lorsqu’il s’agit d’une personne morale;
- Make sure you know the location of your water meter. In most homes, it is installed in the basement, on the front wall of the house (near the main water inlet valve).
- Between July 15 and August 15, take note of the numbers on the dial (from left to right).

- You will then get the following screen:

- In the Identification section, enter the following information: Last Name, First Name, Phone 1 and Email.
- If you do not have an email addresse, enter compteurs@ndip.org.
- In the Meter Reading section, enter the Lecture.
- Enter all digits, including leadind zeros (0)
- If in doubt the numbers to enter (depending on the decimal), you can take a photo of your counter and send it to compteurs@ndip.org.
- Once all the fields have been completed, check the box J’accepte de transmettre la lecture du compteur d’eau à la municipalité. Si je désire modifier la lecture je devrai communiquer avec la municipalité. Dans le cas contraire je dois cliquer sur « Annuler » pour interrompre la procédure.
- Click on Transmettre. You will then receive a confirmation email to your email address.
- Print the confirmation page by clicking on the button.
- Leave the page to finish.
Under the Family Action Plan, families with 4 or more children can request an increase in the volume of non-taxable water allowed at their residence. They are eligible for an exemption of up to 50 cubic meters (11,000 gallons) if their consumption exceeds 250 cubic meters (55,000 gallons).
To qualify for such an exemption, the applicant must submit the following documentation:
- Proof of the identity of the applicant indicating the address of residence on the territory of the City.
- The children’s birth certificates indicating that the applicant is their parent and that the children are under the age of 18 on July 1 of the current year, or if they are 18 or over, proof of their enrollment in an educational institution full time should be provided too.
Seniors aged 65 and over may be considered eligible dependents for the purposes of the exemption provided.
To qualify for such an exemption, the applicant must submit the following documentation:
- Proof of the identity of the applicant indicating the address of residence on the territory of the City.
- Proof of the dependent eldest’s identity and age showing that they reside at the same address as the applicant.
