Dear residents,
We were saddened to learn of the recent passing of Lise Chartier, a renowned historian and committed citizen of Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot. On behalf of the members of the council and all those who had the privilege of knowing her, I would like to once again pay tribute to Ms. Chartier’s exceptional contribution to our culture and community life. For more than 20 years, she conducted research on the history of the island and contributed greatly to raising awareness of local history and promoting our city's heritage, particularly through the Fondation du patrimoine Sainte-Jeanne-de-Chantal. She chaired the Comité du 350e de l'île Perrot, whose work culminated in 2022 with a year of activities and festivities marking the 350th anniversary of the Seigneurie de l'Île Perrot. Our thoughts are with her family, loved ones, and all those affected by her passing. Thank you, Ms. Chartier!
The special meeting to adopt the 2026 Budget will take place on Monday, December 15, at 7 p.m. at Carrefour Notre-Dame. Once again this year, preparing the budget was a complex exercise in which we had to take into account increases in the cost of living, bills, and shares (which rose between 3% and 27%). In general, the budget items over which we have no control (invariable expenses), which make up the vast majority of the City's budget, have increased. In light of this, we have rigorously managed our priorities. We have chosen to continue investing in certain projects even though they are no longer subsidized until further notice, such as the repair of infrastructure on 100th Avenue and 101st Avenue. We cannot stop moving forward simply because the Quebec government is reducing its subsidies. We therefore invite you to attend the special meeting where we will present the careful exercise we have undertaken to align our challenges and our projects.
The cold weather and snow seem to be here to stay. Our teams are working hard to open the natural ice rinks in Bécassines and Mésanges parks and the pond in Éperviers park. And don't forget that tubing and access to the snowshoe trails at the Centre Plein Air Fatima are free for NDIP residents upon presentation of proof of residence. Everything you need to enjoy winter in NDIP!
