A word from the mayor

Dear residents,

This year, along with the three other cities on the Island, we have the great privilege of being beneficiaries of the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign from April 27 to May 3. We are very pleased that the Tim Hortons restaurants on Île Perrot have chosen to donate 100 % of the proceeds from each Smile Cookie sold to the youth funds of the four cities (and to the Bel âge program at NDIP). In Notre-Dame, this initiative is in addition to the Tournoi de golf des maires de l’île Perrot, which has been organized for several years to generate funds that will support activities for our youth and seniors. During the campaign, I invite you to enjoy a delicious cookie with your coffee at the Tim Hortons locations on Île Perrot to support our good causes. You can also order online and pick up your cookies at the restaurant of your choice. $24 for a box of 12 cookies. If you order more than 10 boxes, a council member will be more than happy to deliver them directly to your door. Every cookie counts – there’s no reason to hold back!

We took advantage of the April meeting to authorize the purchase of a dump trailer, which will be very useful for the new compost distribution model. Rather than inviting everyone to drive to the Municipal Workshops, compost will be made available in the Éperviers, Mésanges, Bécassines, and Hirondelles parks. This approach will reduce the heavy traffic at the Workshops and allow those who live nearby to pick up compost with a wheelbarrow. So keep an eye on our publications – compost distribution will begin on Saturday, May 9 at 10 a.m. At the Municipal Workshops, tree seedlings and perennials will also be distributed on the same day, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome, and thank you for the efforts made to plant flowers and beautify the front of your homes to make NDIP ever more beautiful.

Even though the warm weather is taking its time to arrive, the big spring cleanup is well underway at NDIP. The sports facilities in our parks are almost all open, to the great delight of tennis, pickleball, and basketball players.

In closing, I would like to remind you that in collaboration with the cities of Pincourt, Terrasse-Vaudreuil, and Vaudreuil-Dorion, Notre-Dame is hosting the 34th edition of the Intermunicipal Public Works Tournament from April 24 to 26. More than thirty teams from across Quebec are registered for the tournament. I invite you to come cheer on the NDIP public works team – the match schedule is available online. The opening match between NDIP and the City of Pointe-Claire will officially launch the tournament on Friday, April 24 at 7 p.m. at the Cité-des-jeunes arena.

Happy April – the sun will surely show up eventually 😉
