Water park

In early summer 2013 the Municipality of Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot opened a water park in Mésanges Park.

The water park has two sections, one for toddlers (ages 3 to 5) and one for older children (ages 5 to 12). The various water park features provide a safe way for children of all ages to have fun and cool down.

A water meter has been installed to record data on the amount of water used per summer. Estimates show that the water consumption should be equivalent to the annual consumption of a single-family dwelling. As well, the design includes a flow-through water management system, which means that used water flows directly into the storm sewer. This design was selected because it is hygienic and easy to maintain. [/tab3]

In the opinion of the Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot skater community, the Municipality put Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot on the map of the Quebec skateboarding world when it redeveloped its skatepark in summer 2008. The skatepark was redesigned and rebuilt with Jersey barriers and real concrete, making it worthy of the Big-O transitions of the Olympic Stadium. It is a good example of a skatepark that does not follow the modular concept.

In 2011, Kevin Cann worked with the Municipality to further develop the park by adding a taco-style door. He then persuaded the Municipality to build a bowl with pool coping, one of the first in Quebec! The new bowl is approximately 3 ft. in the shallow part, increasing to 7 ft.
