A word from the mayor

Dear residents,

The Council was pleased to learn, before the meeting, that EXO had reversed its decision and would maintain bus route 40 (reduced service) and route 91 (regular service) until May 29 to ensure service for students at Cégep Gérald-Godin, Saint-Laurent, and Vanier until the end of the Winter 2026 session. Our mobilization, launched by elected officials and citizens, has paid off. Let us hope that the transit network's leadership continues to take into account the many comments we have shared with them, with the goal of improving a service that does not meet the expectations of NDIP residents and those of the entire Île Perrot.

At the start of the meeting, as at the same time every year, we tabled the financial report and the external auditors' report for the 2025 fiscal year. This accounting exercise is a great opportunity to take stock of the City's financial situation and look back on recent achievements, including the successes of the Soup Festival, the Island Mayors' Golf Tournament, the Library's Nuit Blanche, and the full lineup of our free activities in the parks and under the Éperviers Tent. Despite the challenges of municipal taxation, NDIP continues to perform very well, having invested approximately 4.5 M$ in infrastructure in 2025, with an impact of less than 1 M$ on the overall debt. Our goal remains the same: to maintain a fair balance between service quality and our capacity to pay. If you did not attend the meeting, I invite you to watch the financial report presentation online. For any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

Speaking of improved citizen services, we are taking a new step into the technological era with the upcoming launch of our citizen portal. This summer, you will be invited to create an account on the brand-new portal and take advantage of features that interest you, such as access to your tax account, more targeted newsletters, and more precise notifications. Keep an eye on our publications and quickly take advantage of this new citizen communication tool.

We will have the pleasure of welcoming the stars of the LNI to Parc des Éperviers on Saturday, May 30 at 3:30 p.m. Under the roof of the Éperviers Tent, the LNI team will face off against the local players of Les Improbables from Cégep Gérald-Godin. A free show not to be missed, made possible through the Cultural Development Agreement (2025–2027) reached between the Government of Québec and the City of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot.

Finally, the Soup Festival team will soon be launching the recruitment campaign for soup makers for the 2026 edition, which will take place on September 13 at the Parc historique de la Pointe-du-Moulin. Municipalities, organizations, businesses, restaurateurs, and the general public are all invited to submit their best soup recipe and take part in this friendly competition, once again overseen this year by guest chef of honour Jonathan Garnier. Watch our publications and register for the famous Soup Festival!

Happy start of summer. Again this year, we will be holding our summer meetings outdoors in the parks. We will see you in June at Parc des Éperviers, in July at the Jardins du 350e, and in August at Parc des Mésanges. We look forward to seeing you there!
