 Renewing a loan

You can only renew a loan in person.  No renewals by phone or for books that are reserved

 Vacation loan

Special loans are granted to residents on vacation only. The duration of the loan is 6 weeks.

 Inter-library loan

If the library does not possess a document you are looking for, it can be borrowed from another library.  This service may, however, incur fees or delays.

 Lost or damaged books

Each user is responsible for all damage or the loss of a borrowed document.  If you have damaged a document, do not repair the document yourself (glue, tape, etc.).  Repairs to documents are handled by a specialist.  Please mention the damage at the loans counter.

A user who loses a book must pay the original cost of the book plus $2 in fees plus the cost of a binder, in the case of a book in a binder.

The Collection

The library offers its users a collection of nearly 30,000 documents, 41 periodical subscriptions, and 200 CD-ROMs. You can search our indexed catalogue by title, author, subject, editor, or keywords.  The collection contains diverse categories of documents, such as novels, books on diverse subjects, journals, albums, graphic novels for children and adults, jigsaw puzzles for children, CD-ROMs, books on tape for youths.

 Reference Materials

A collection of reference materials, including encyclopaedias, dictionaries, atlases, etc. can be consulted in the library only.

 English Language Volumes

Approximately 15% of the collection is in English.  Works of fiction, albums, and children’s stories have their own section, while non-fiction documents are integrated with the French collection.

 Periodicals

The library subscribes to over 41 periodicals which members can borrow.  Note, however, that the current month’s edition is reserved for reading in the library only.

Book Return Slot

A book return slot is available outside the library where users can return their document outside of library hours.

Reservations and Purchase Suggestions

Any user can reserve a book at the loans counter.

If, after checking the catalogue, you cannot find the book you are looking for, you can ask the librarian to fill out a purchase suggestion. It will be our pleasure to consider your suggestions when we place our orders.  If we purchase your selection, we will let you know.
