Story hour is an activity offered to preschool age
children. Offer your child the most precious gift:
the love of books and reading.
This activity is held on Friday April 11 & 25,
May 9 & 23 and June 6 2008 - at Carrefour Notre-Dame
Summer
2008 Theme is : Lire aux larmes. Registrations will
be held from June 16 to 27 (regular opening hours).
A gift will be given to the first 100 participants registered.
Every summer, the library invites children
aged from 2-14 years to participate in the summer Reading
Club. This activity has the goal of enticing children
to read during the summer, even though they have a break
from obligatory reading, and to develop a taste for
and habit of reading. Over the summer, children keep
reading notebook, in which they write down all the books
that they read. Depending on the category that
the children sign up for, for every 5-10 books read,
they receive a coupon for a draw with different participation
prizes. A party at the end of the summer closes
the activity.
Are
you passionate about books? Would you love to have a
chance to share and exchange about your reading? The
Reading Club was created last spring to bring together
adults who want to share their literary passions. It
is still possible to join this group and people interested
in attending these meetings are requested to speak to
the library staff. The first monthly meeting of winter
2008 will take place on Wednesday April 16 & May
21 2008., from 1:30 to 4:30. For more information, call
514-453-0013.
Offer your baby the most precious gift: the love of books and reading! For infants, reading is a magic moment, filled with a reassuring voice that tells wonderful stories and opens the doors of the imagination . From birth, give your child a membership to the library. A gift that will enrich her whole life!
By signing up your child with the library, you will receive at no charge a gift set of “Une naissance, un livre” containing a book for infants, offered by les éditions Dominique & compagnie and the magazine “Enfants-Québec” for mom and dad.
The library organizes meetings with various authors.
Once a year, during the National Public Library week in October, the library holds a sale of the books received as donations during the course of the year, as well as books and journals being removed from the library’s own collection. This is an occasion to buy books at unbeatable prices: from $0.10 to $1.00 for all kinds of books.
The next sale will be held on Saturday October 25,
2008 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
