
BYLAW 451 - Without Pesticides, Naturally
- The use and application of pesticides is forbidden on the combined territory of the municipality;
- In the case of an infestation that endangers the survival of vegetation, or that can harm human health, or to wipe out vermin that constitute a danger to human health, a temporary permit an be obtained as per article 6 of the bylaw;
- Low impact pesticides are authorized without requiring a permit;
- All spraying of pesticides, excluding low impact pesticides, must be performed by an contractor possessing the necessary permits;
- No pesticides may be applied on properties adjacent to school grounds or playgrounds, rest area, parks, or other areas patronized by the public.
In the case where a resident has a problem requiring an application of pesticides:
- Only the owner or occupant of a property may request a temporary permit for the application of pesticides;
- No request for a permit will be accepted which concerns the application of pesticides in protected zones;
- A competent authority must confirm the infestation or the danger before a temporary permit will be issued. This permit will be valid for the duration of 7 days from the date of emission.
- The temporary permit for the application will be issued when all known alternatives respecting the environment have been exhausted, including the use of low impact pesticides;
- Only contractors who have already obtained a permit issued annually by the municipality may proceed with the application of pesticides.

Bylaw Aiming to Ban the Exterior use of Pesticides
Despite the ban on the use of pesticides, it is possible to obtain a temporary permit in the case of a major infestation. To do this, communicate with the Urban Planning Department, at 514-453-4128. A municipal representative will visit your property to evaluate the state of the lawn and provide you with appropriate counsel.
